Kent Emanuel threw eight scoreless innings, while Cody Stubbs and Brian Holberton each drove in three runs to help North Carolina beat Miami 10-0 on Thursday in pool play of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Elon announces plans to leave SoCon, join Colonial Athletic Association
The Colonial Athletic Association is getting a new member as Elon is joining the CAA for the 2014-15 season. Elon, which is leaving the Southern Conference, will join as an all-sports member. That gives the CAA 10 basketball schools and 12 in football.

Pinson announces commitment to Tar Heels
High Point Wesleyan's Theo Pinson had some of the top programs in the country after him including Indiana, Louisville, Georgetown and Duke, but on Wednesday, the class of 2014 small forward announced he'd be joining the Tar Heels.

QB Mitchell decides on North Carolina State
Former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Mitchell says he is transferring to North Carolina State to play his final season. Mitchell was granted his release from the Razorbacks earlier this month, following a spring competition for the starting position that ended with the senior listed as the second-team quarterback to sophomore Brandon Allen.

Winston-Salem City Council approves coliseum sale to Wake Forest
After about three-years of negotiations, the Winston-Salem City Council on Monday voted 5-2, approving the sale of the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum to Wake Forest University. The council also unanimously approved an intent to sell Bowman Gray Stadium to Winston-Salem State University.

UNC's Moran named ACC baseball player of year
North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran is the Atlantic Coast Conference's player of the year and teammate Kent Emanuel is its pitcher of the year. Moran leads the nation with 83 RBIs and hit .376 while becoming the seventh UNC player to win the ACC award.

Eric Law scored with 13 seconds left to cap Denver's big comeback in a 12-11 win over North Carolina in an NCAA lacrosse quarterfinal Sunday. Denver trailed by as many as six goals and was down five at halftime.

Top prep prospect Andrew Wiggins to attend Kansas
Top basketball prospect Andrew Wiggins is headed to Kansas. Wiggins signed a letter-of-intent with the Jayhawks at a private ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Huntington. He previously narrowed his choices to Kentucky, North Carolina and Florida State.

Duke's Hairston has right thumb surgery
Duke says rising senior Josh Hairston will miss 6-8 weeks of offseason work while he recovers from thumb surgery. The school said Hairston had surgery Tuesday to repair ligament damage in his right thumb. He injured his thumb during practice in February but did not miss any time in games.

NC State announces 10-person class for sports hall
Receiver Torry Holt and basketball players Tommy Burleson and Ronnie Shavlik are headed into North Carolina State's sports hall of fame. The school on Monday announced a class that also includes former basketball coach Norm Sloan, former football coach Earle Edwards and women's basketball player Andrea Stinson.

UNCW Seahawks ready to tee off in NCAAs
Last month, the Seahawks captured their third straight Colonial Athletic Association championship and the squad found out last week it would tee off at the Blessing Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 16 for the NCAA Regional, marking the program's fourth straight NCAA appearance.
