Asheboro--One of the largest employers in Randolph County is expanding, hiring for more than 50 new positions.

Malt-O-Meal, which makes value-priced cereals, is doubling the size of its 350,000 square foot plant in Asheboro.

They'll begin hiring for 55 new jobs at the end of October, with an average salary of $14-$18 dollars an hour, plus benefits.

"We're hiring hourly team managers, and well as some managers and engineers,” said plant manager Dale Ducommun.

Saturday morning, the company sold 10,000 bags of its cereal for $1 dollar each, with all proceeds going to United Way.
