FAYETTEVILLE -- Closing arguments wrapped up this morning in a court martial for the third soldier charged in connection with the death of army Pvt. Danny Chen on Fort Bragg, according to the Fayetteville Observer.
Staff Sgt. Blaine Dugas is accused of failing to prevent his subordinates from abusing mistreated Chen and not being truthful when interviewed by investigators days after Chen’s death.
Dugas' lawyers called no witnesses after prosecutors rested their case. The defense made a motion to dismiss the charges but the military judge denied it.
The maximum prison time Dugas can receive is one year. Five other soldiers charged have yet to be tried.
