MATTHEWS, N.C. — Students at Central Piedmont Community College now have one more option when it comes to classes.
The state's largest community college now offers four-week classes. School officials say the classes are mostly general assignment courses. Students who successfully complete the course will get the same amount of credit as students taking 16-credit hour classes.
“The intention is that the students are going to be more involved and it will encourage them to participate more because of the format of the class,” said Dean Edith McElroy.
The classes meet daily for three hours. Although the length of the course is shorter, instructors say the course will be more intense.
"For four weeks they will be super busy. But by the time they were feeling like 'I cant do anymore and I am about burned out', they are done," said instructor Patricia Bostian.
College leaders say there is still time to register for the four-week session that starts on Monday. The next session starts in September.
