DURHAM -- Former Duke offensive lineman Kyle Hill has signed with the New England Patriots.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder started in 46 games during his career in Durham, missing the final two last year with a shoulder injury.

The current Blue Devils opened training camp Monday and will start the season Sept. 1 at home against Florida International. Duke returns 17 of a possible 25 starters from last year's 3-9 squad, and while August optimism seems to be an annual feeling, the Devils are convinced it's a little different this year.

“Walking around, there's a different feel in the locker room,” said offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson. “Everyone's involved.”
