WAYNE COUNTY — Tougher rules could soon be in place for Wayne County internet gaming cafes.
Tuesday, the county voted unanimously to take up the issue in the future of regulating the location of the businesses and the hours of operation. Right now, there are no restrictions at all. Options that could go into place are businesses will have to be 1,000 ft. from residential neighborhoods, schools and churches.
That will entail changes for some cafes.
"We are aware of a couple out there who will have to move or close. However they'll be given one year from today to find a location," said Wayne Co. planning director Connie Price.
Another proposal they may soon vote on is hours of operation. Instead of being opened 24 hours a day Monday through Sunday, the hours of operation would be limited to 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.
