CHARLOTTE--Charlotte Mecklenburg Police say a fight at a large party lead to a deadly shooting early Sunday morning. It happened on Timbertop Lane in east Mecklenburg. CMPD says 18-year old Kevin Washington died in the shooting, two other teens were shot and survived.

Homicide detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department spent hours on Timbertop Lane, early Sunday morning. Three teenagers were shot, including 18-year old Kevin Washington who died from his injuries.

"We thought something was going on there because we didn't hear music,” said neighbor Mark McMorris. “After awhile I noticed a lot more kids were coming out. I said to my wife, it seems like they're having a party over there, like the parents are not there so they're having a party."

CMPD says there was a large party Saturday night at the home. Just after midnight, there was a fight, and seconds later, gun shots.

"I heard loud noises, I didn't know what was going on,” said neighbor Alsina McMorris. “It was loud noise then I heard the guns shots and got very scared."

Alsina McMorris says she was up late packing for her move to Michigan later in the week. She says a young woman who lived at the house came up to her just minutes before the shooting, and told McMorris she was going to shut the party down.

"The young lady who was having the party asked me if she was disturbing us and I told her yes,” added Mrs. McMorris. “And I asked her where her parents were. She said her mother had gone to rent a hotel because she wanted her to have the party at the house."

Several posts on the social media site, Twitter, talked about a "kickback" on Timbertop Lane Saturday night. There were even more posts about the victims, including survivors Garrett Hall who was shot in the leg and Tevin Horton who was shot in the arm.

Police have not released any information about a suspect or possible charges. CMPD's Gang unit along with Vice & Narcotics assisted homicide detectives with the investigation.
