CHAPEL HILL -- T.J. Logan ran for four touchdowns and also scored on a 19-yard catch Friday night to help Northern Guilford beat Shelby Crest 31-7 to win the Class 3AA North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship.

Logan ran for 204 yards and three short scores in the third quarter to blow the game open for the Nighthawks (14-1), who beat the Chargers for the second straight year in the 3-AA final. Northern Guilford won last year's meeting 21-20.

Logan also ran for a 37-yard score in the first quarter and was named the game's most valuable player. The Chargers (12-4) managed just 181 total yards and nine first downs.

Crest led 7-6 on Rhaheim Ledbetter's 3-yard score early in the second quarter, but Daniel Downing found Logan for the go-ahead TD midway through the period for a 12-7 halftime lead.
