LELAND, N.C.--Leland has a new slogan, plans for a new Town Hall, new homes and residents.
"We really did grow a lot, because people found us," Glenda Browning with Leland's Tourism Development Association said. "People were coming here looking for the southern lifestyle."
Much of this is due, in part, to the town's new marketing strategy, a newly designed website. City officials say the new tag-line, "In the middle of bliss" refers to the community's close proximity to both Wilmington and the Brunswick County beaches. "We're in the middle of everything you can imagine you would enjoy doing if you came to visit," Browning said.
The site also boasts area attractions, such as Brunswick Nature Park. One park visitor from Wilmington said for her, the park is an escape. "I just like coming to Brunswick Park, because it's out of the hustle and bustle of Wilmington."
Town officials said they hope the site will attract more visitors. However, while they are embracing the new, they say it's important the town still holds on to its old fashioned values. "When you talk about southern charm and southern traditions, that is what Leland is," Browning said.
