A Pitt County girl on an all-boys baseball team stands out in more ways than one.

Brittany Apgar, 8, was born without fingers on her right hand due to a condition called hyoplasia.

She's had 10 surgeries to grown them back, and is now excelling in sports and in school.

Brittany said anyone who's faced with adversity should stay tough.

"If you keep trying you're gonna reach your goal, and don't just give up; you can reach anything that you set your mind to," she said.

She and her family hope they're all done with surgeries.

Brittany now only has to see the doctor once a year.
