WILMINGTON -- A World War II relic made a stop in the Port City Friday morning. The 1945 Jeep Willys was on display at the New Hanover County Senior Center at the request of Southeastern North Carolina's World War II Remembered group.

The versatile all-everything Jeep was a workhorse of the war, and veterans say just seeing it brings back memories.

"It's nice to see a Jeep that we used in 1944-45 and it's got everything on there that we had," said retired WWII Cpl. Robert Bradicich. "I think I could drive one of them now. It's got a clutch and it's got a gear and a gear shift and everything. I'd like to try it right now."

Veterans also discussed the history of the Jeep and it's importance to the war effort.
