WILMINGTON--North Carolina's first full-service movie production facility opened its doors in Wilmington.
"Post 1200" offers production and post-production opportunities for projects filming in the Port City.
Industry insiders say the facility will be a useful a one-stop shop.
Sam Kaufmann, who owns two similar facilities in California, learned there was a need for a one-stop shop production facility, especially with big name productions like Iron Man 3 and new TV show "Revolution" coming to the area.
"It's a lot more productive if everybody is in one spot. So that's just a trend I saw happening in LA probably over 10 years. So we said if we are going to do it here, let's do it that way," said Kaufmann.
Along with an extensive music library, the building offers space for edit bays and a full stage for screenings.
"It's good to have this near-by. It's also more immediate. You're not sending all of your stuff off to LA or New York or some other facility. It's all right here. It's got to be better," said Art Director of "Revolution," Matthew Jacobs.
Work completed at Post 1200 will qualify for the 25% tax credit studios receive when filming in NC.
"Nothing but positive responses from New Line Cinema to Marvel to everybody that comes over here just has a super positive experience," said Kaufmann.
