WILMINGTON – Opponents of a proposed baseball stadium in downtown Wilmington are trying to drum up support for their cause Saturday with a family fun day in Empire Park.
Organizers say they trying to get more signatures on a petition against using taxpayer money to fund the ballpark.
They say they have reached the 2,900 signatures required but want as many as possible before they go to the city council.
Saturday's event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. and will include a softball game, other family-friendly games and a raffle.
