RALEIGH--There is still time to try winning the largest jackpot in U.S. history.

The Mega Million's jackpot is now up to a whooping $640 million after no one matched all the numbers in Tuesday night's drawing. People in North Carolina are up against ticket holders in 41 other states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.

Players have only a 1 in 175 million chance of winning, but convenience store clerk Lazarus John said customers still can't help but buy a ticket.

"Everybody wants that dollar and a dream. A lot of people have been coming in. our traffic for the lottery has increased significantly," said John.

The state's lottery director says the jackpot alone will bring in more than $7 million to education in North Carolina. The previous jackpot record was $390 million.
