NEW BERN — Police in New Bern are investigating a double shooting Friday that left two people dead.

The New Bern Sun Journal reports Brittney Jones and Johnnie Neely were found dead in a house on Julia Clay Street around 2:30 p.m. City officials say both victims were shot, but say the incident was not a double homicide.

No arrests have been made. Jones had a 3-year-old daughter. It is not clear if the child was home at the time.
