WILMINGTON – Patriots and Giants fans would both agree throwing a Super Bowl party on budget is tough, but it doesn't have to be.

Local couponers Delly Mellor and Kim Fagin say with some pre-planning, a party can be thrown for just pennies.

"The good news is that the stores and manufacturers, they work with us, the consumers. They know people are planning Super Bowl parties right now so you are going to see a lot of items on sale related to the Super Bowl."

They say planning a party on a budget does not mean skimping on quality. The ladies purchased pizza, chilli ingredients, meatballs, soft pretzels, lasagna, hot dogs, chips and dip, and utensils all for a total of $18.

Before store savings and coupons, their total was almost $65.

Although they say it is possible to save money without coupons, the research and time spent on the coupons is worth it.

"Anybody can do it," said Fagin. " It makes the Super Bowl more fun because you are saving money as well."
