WILMINGTON—Three signature events are helping bring big business to the downtown Wilmington Historic District.

The North Carolina Jazz Festival, Wilmington Wine and Chocolate Festival and the Wilmington Garden Show are all within walking distance of each other. This is the first year for the Wine and Chocolate Festival to be held downtown.

"It brings different people in and people who didn't really know about or understand what the Jazz Festival was, they might get a chance to drop in, see and hear and buy a ticket," said NC Jazz Festival spokesperson Sandy Evans.

The enticing weekend is expected to bring thousands of people to the historic district during the off-season.

"It gives people a reason to come downtown and to stay longer and while there here they will probably pop into a restaurant maybe stay for dinner and just spend a lot of money downtown," said Connie Nelson with Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Visitors who attend the Garden Show and the Wine and Chocolate Festival can receive a $3 discount. The discounts are available at both events.
