JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul squared off in another debate Thursday night in Jacksonville, Fla.
The CNN debate came four days ahead of the state's primary. Some of the highlights included an exchange on immigration:
Gingrich: "I want to control the border. I want English to be the official language of government. I want us to have a lot of changes."
Romney: "Mr. speaker, I'm not anti-immigrant. My father was born in Mexico. My wife's father was born in Wales. They came to this country. The idea that I'm anti-immigrant is repulsive."
Santorum: "I think we need to enforce the law at the border; secure the border. Secondly, we need to have employer enforcement, which means e-verify, and then we need to have not only employers sanctioned, but we have to have people who are found who are working here illegally. They need to be deported."
Paul: "I think we spend way too much time worrying about the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Use some of those resources on our own border."
