BRUNSWICK COUNTY – D.A.R.E spokesman Retro Bill, along with a hundred officers from across the state, are helping send a positive message to elementary school students.

As part of their annual conference, the officers are learning new ways to inspire students to believe in themselves.

Retro Bill addressed self-esteem, bullying and ways to just say no to drugs and alcohol. With all of the officers right in front of them the students said they know the officers and Retro Bill are there to help.

"I think he is trying to tell us that we shouldn't do bad stuff and we should try and follow our dreams and stay in school," said Hope Hosford, fifth grader.

Next year, the annual D.A.R.E. conference is scheduled for Atlantic Beach.
