HUBERT, N.C. — A cell phone may have played a role in a deadly accident in Hubert.

The State Highway Patrol said Deanna Childs, 33, made a couple of calls about a minute before she hit a stopped DOT truck on Wednesday on NC 24 near the intersection with NC 172.

Troopers say Childs may have been distracted. She died at a hospital. No one else was hurt in the accident.
