WILSON — The Wilson County Sheriffs Department has four new members, who are particularly intimidating to drug dealers.
The department now has a K-9 unit patrolling the streets, with four new German Shepards fresh out of training. The four-legged wonders will do more than find drugs, they'll also track a missing person or someone who's fled from the scene.
Deputies had to go through intense training, testing, and undergo a review to get their new sidekicks.
"We picked out the four officers that best fit the criteria and it's just wonderful. I'm so excited, almost like the best gift I ever could get for Christmas,” said Sheriff Calvin Woodard.
The deputies trained with the dogs for three months before they were qualified to patrol.
