ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. — A Pender County man charged in a deadly DWI accident appeared in an Onslow County court on Monday.
Authorities say Jacob Bietz, 29, was drinking and driving on Saturday when he caused an accident that killed 19-year-old Jacinta Fisher. Officials say Bietz was traveling between 80 mph and 90 mph on Highway 17 in Holly Ridge when he rear-ended the car Fisher was in.
When officers arrived on-scene, they used a Taser on Bietz as he attempted to leave the scene. Bietz is charged with voluntary manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, DWI, among other charges.
Authorities say Bietz was driving with a revoked license from a previous DWI charge. His next court date is set for Dec. 19.
