WILMINGTON — Time is running out for some Monkey Junction residents to let officials know if they want to be annexed into Wilmington.
Petitions were mailed earlier this summer after a new state law gave property owners the chance to make the final decision. The deadline to meet the requirement is Tuesday.
The Wilmington Star News reports the Board of Elections has received nearly 74 percent of denial petitions from property owners.
They need 60 percent to block the city from annexing.
