RALEIGH -- Authorities say speed was a factor in a fatal motorcycle wreck Wednesday night on Lynn Road in Raleigh.

The police report shows that the driver, 59-year-old Richard Marcom, was going about 85 mph in a 45 mph zone when he lost control and hit a utility pole.

Marcom died at Wake Medical Center. No other vehicles were involved.
