CHAPEL HILL--Former Tar Heel athlete Julius Peppers defended his academic record, after his transcript appeared on UNC's website.
Peppers majored in the African American Studies program at Carolina, which is being investigated for academic fraud.
In a statement, Peppers wrote:
“I can assure everyone that there is no academic fraud as it relates to my college transcript. I took every course with qualified members of the UNC faculty and I earned every grade whether it was good or bad. I was never given unapproved assistance or preferential treatment in terms of my academic career because I was a student-athlete.”
School officials have since removed the link to Peppers' transcript and said they can't discuss confidential student information covered by federal privacy laws.
