WCPSS Chief Facilities and Operations Officer to resign at end of year

WCPSS Chief Facilities and Operations Officer to resign at end of year

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — The Wake County Public School System, Chief Facilities and Operations Officer Don Haydon, has elected to resign effective December 31, 2012.

Haydon, who oversaw transportation for the district, elected to resign effective December 31, 2012. School officials say he will be on paid leave from Tuesday, Sept. 18 through the end of the year. However, Haydon will be available to provide assistance during the transition period.

Haydon served with the U.S. Naval Civil Engineer Corps for more than 20 years in facilities construction, management and operations.

More than 40 buses were put back on the streets of Wake County last week to combat a transportation issue that involved late or no-show buses since the beginning of the school year. The Wake County Public School System had removed about 50 buses from their route at the start of the year as a cost-saving measure.
