CHARLOTTE -- The wait is over for iPhone fans. The new iPhone 5 was be released Friday. Some diehard fans waited overnight to get their hands on it.
Lines didn't wrap around the building at Northlake Mall in Charlotte, but people started to show up before dawn at the mall to be amongst the first to get the new iPhone 5.
Apple took 2 million pre-orders for the phone in the first 24 hours they were available last week. Analysts say Apple could sell more than 10 million phones by the end of the week. It features 4G LTE wireless connections, a bigger screen, lighter and slimmer frame and a faster processor.
There are five Apple stores across the state. All of those stores opened earlier to accommodate the rush.
