CARY—Triangle runners are getting a sneak peak at an unopened section of the state's first toll road.
Hundreds of people are getting the chance to run on a section of the Triangle Expressway before it opens to drivers for a good cause, as part of the Triangle Trot.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, more than 500 people of all ages showed up for the last race in November, helping them raise $20,000 for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. This time they are hoping to top that figure.
The section of the Expressway is scheduled to open in August.
