WILMINGTON -- Family and friends lit candles Saturday night in honor of murder victims and those still missing. The candlelight service wrapped up the Cue Center's annual conference this weekend.
A wall of missing persons was unveiled in Riverfront Park.
Lisa Valentino, whose sister disappeared in 2006 and whose remains were later found in 2008, says being around other families dealing with the same grief creates a special bond.
“To hear the stories of these families who have lost loved ones, hear them speak about their lost and them to have closure and have them to be honored tonight, it's just such a beautiful and moving ceremony and for me,” she said. “It was just such a huge part of my healing process a year ago.”
News 14 Carolina's Julie Fertig received the Keeper of the Flame award for her work with the Cue Center.
