RALEIGH – 22-year-old Jamie Fraley was last seen in April of 2008 in Gaston County, near Charlotte. Family members describe her as a vibrant young person with a full life in front of her.
Fraley's mother, Kim Fraley, said the holidays are a tough time without her daughter.
“The pain is constant,” she said. “You wake up every morning wondering, is this going to be the day? And you go through that day, and it's just a continuous battle.”
She last spoke to her daughter the night she went missing.
“I think about the last night that I talked to her and the last night I told her I loved her, and the next day she was gone,” Kim Fraley said.
Jamie Fraley's disappearance puzzled police from the very first day.
“We continue to get to information and some tips in regards to Jamie, but we're asking anyone with any information to give us a call,” Capt. Joe Ramey, of the Gaston County police, said.
Jamie Fraley was last seen at her home at the Copperfield Apartments in Gastonia when she was talking to her mother. It was the last time anyone heard from her.
Investigators found the door to her apartment locked, but her keys and wallet were still inside.
“Anytime you have a missing person's case in which extended period of time, it becomes a challenge, and the information flow begins to slow down,” Ramey said.
The father of Fraley's fiance, Ricky Simons, Sr., was found dead in the trunk of a car a couple of months after the disappearance. He lived next door to Fraley. Police considered him a person of interest in the case.
Hundreds of people spent days searching nearby woods for Fraley, but so far has found nothing. The family says their faith keeps them going, and all they can do is hope for a miracle.
“You never know, you may not have that tomorrow. People need to think about that. They need to hug their children tightly and spend as much time as they can with them,” Kim Fraley said. “I feel that there's someone out there that knows something, even though there aren't any new leads.”
If you have any information about Jamie Fraley's disappearance, call the Gaston County Police Department.
