RALEIGH -- The search continues Friday morning for the suspect responsible for shooting a store clerk at a Wake County convenience store. It happened outside a Shell gas station on the corner of Penny and Olde South Roads around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies say a gunman opened fire, struck Jerry Fuquay, and ran off. The suspect is still at large.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office released few details about the suspect's identity but they say it was man that was wearing a mask. They say he was last seen going toward the lake on foot, but believe he could have had a car close by. Deputies are now asking anyone who may know something to come forward.
"We got a call shortly after 9 that someone had been shot at this store. When we arrived a few minutes later we saw there was a subject that had been shot," said Donnie Harrison with the Wake County Sheriff's Office. "That's all we know right now, he said something about a black male. So anyone who saw anything in the 9 p.m. range; car, person that was be passing by, it would be really helpful if they called and let us know."
The store owner, Hardee Parrish, says they do have surveillance video that has been turned over the Wake County Sheriff's Office. Fuquay is listed in fair condition at WakeMed.
Anyone with information is asked to call (919) 856-6911.
