GREENSBORO -- How loud is too loud? That's the question Greensboro officials are now trying to answer after a series of noise complaints by some people living downtown.
City council tabled a proposed change to the existing ordinance this week that would have quieted outdoor amplified noise from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. But some some businesses that bank on their outdoor venues say stricter rules could potentially put them out of business.
"Probably about 40 employees, and that would for that number of people would be just absolutely horrible," said Mike Carter from SNY and SKY nightclub.
Because it wasn't clearly defined, the proposed ordinance could have possibly included businesses like New Bridge Bank Park where the Grasshoppers play.
City council is now taking a look at other places like Raleigh and Charlotte to see how they handle noise in their cities.
