CAMP LEJEUNE – A bill is being reintroduced that would give Camp Lejeune residents free health care for exposure to tainted drinking water on base.

The Jacksonville Daily News reports the Janey Ensminger act is named after a 9-year-old girl who was believed to have died of leukemia because of exposure to water.

The bill calls for Veterans Affairs to fully cover several former residents who reported health problems on base between the 1950s and 1980s.

The bill was introduced last year, but never left the house committee on veterans’ affairs.
