CHARLOTTE--Protesters voiced their opposition to the Federal Reserve in uptown Charlotte.

The march was part of a nationwide effort called "End the Fed."

Organizers said it's time to get rid of the Federal Reserve System that controls U.S. monetary policy.

"Right now, Congress is trying to audit the Federal Reserve just to see what they are doing and they can't even do that. The Senate is blocking them from even seeing what they are doing," said organizer Daniel Rufty.

The Federal Reserve was established in 1913.

The three key objectives for monetary policy are maximum employment, stable prices and moderate long-term interest rates.
