RALEIGH -- Thousands of students from all over the state are going back to school Saturday. Families and students are unpacking and getting ready for the start of a new semester at NC State University.
There's a lot of excitement for freshmen moving in, but also a little bit of sadness as for many summer is officially over. More than 7,000 students will be moving back into dorms and university housing, all getting ready to get back to the books. School officials say there are about 4,300 incoming freshman out of more than 20,000 applications.
If you're moving in Saturday or helping someone, there will be plenty of traffic officers to help you out. But they do say metered parking spaces will still be monitored, so pay attention if you park in one of those to avoid a ticket.
Students still have a few more days of summer though. Classes don't start until Thursday, so expect students to be moving in through Wednesday.
