LUMBERTON, N.C – A former Robeson County middle school principal who sued for worker's compensation after he was shot in the face is having his case appealed again.
James Hunt's case will now be heard by the State Court of Appeals after a notice of appeal was filed by the Attorney General's office.
Hunt, who didn't want to show his face for the story, has had several surgical procedures done since the incident and has suffered from post traumatic stress since being shot.
"I'm due worker's compensation according to the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Twice my case has been won, twice strongly in our favor and twice the public school system has denied me my claim. And it's a travesty."
The Attorney General's office couldn't be reached for comment.
DeRay Cole with the Public Schools of Robeson County released a statement saying: “The Public Schools of Robeson County regret the tragic incident that Mr. Hunt experienced which resulted in his pain and suffering. We are always concerned about the safety and the well-being of our students and staff. We thank Mr. Hunt for any contribution that he made to help improve student achievement, and we wish him success in the future.”
