Students explored the secrets of science at the Cape Fear Museum's SciFest, which for the second year in a row, offered hands-on experiments for interested students.
"I like to do experiments because they are really fun and it's interesting to see what happens," said fourth-grader Maria McKnight.
Museum educator Virginia Howell said the students in the program don't know they are learning, but they are.
“Having that hands-on component is something we really like to include in the programs we do," she said.
The use of toys and other hands-on activities helps reinforce scientific principles students learn at school. Several of the exhibits sparked the interest of Lillian Wright, a middle school student who says she will definitely be back next year.
"I have learned so much here and it correlates with what I am learning at school and helps me to just learn more and have a great time," she said.
