CONCORD - The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office made an arrest in a deadly stabbing in Concord. 22-year-old Dakota Castner is in custody, charged with killing 19-year-old Kadi Paden.

It happened just before 9pm Monday outside a mobile home on Untz Rd.

Witnesses said the two were fighting over a man they were both dating, when Castner pulled out a knife and stabbed Paden in the neck. She died at the scene. Authorities tracked down Castner several hours later in some nearby woods.

Those who knew Paden are calling this a senseless tragedy.

"It was sad knowing that I'm sitting here trying to help her and I have to sit here and watch her die," said Regina McCloud, a neighbor.

Castner is currently being held at the Cabarrus County Detention Facility. Her next court date is scheduled for March 13.
