CHARLOTTE -- Doctors are seeing more cases of norovirus in North Carolina. Norovirus is a gastrointestinal virus that can cause several days of severe nausea and stomach pain.

Those most at risk are people who live with a child attending preschool or child care, people who stay in hotels, vacation resorts, or cruise ships and people who live in close quarters such as nursing homes or retirement centers.

There's no medication or vaccine for norovirus. Staying hydrated is key if you become sick. Doctors say it is easy to prevent with good hand washing.
